Back pain along with colds used to be one of the most common reasons for visiting the doctor. Since the pandemic began, sedentary lifestyles, poor posture and changing habits have greatly worsened lower back and neck problems.
At the forefront of the latest treatments and in response to the needs we face on a daily basis, at the medical centre Cugat Salut we have opened a new unit specialising in the spine in order to provide the most comprehensive and appropriate medical care possible.
OBJECTIVES
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE NEW SPINE UNIT ARE:
To offer a comprehensive service for the assessment and treatment of the spine.

NEW SPINAL UNIT TEAM
- Dr. Aldo Velasco: spinal surgeon with experience in the private and public sector of over 5 years. Specialised in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at Hospital Parc Taulí (2010-2016). Assistant Doctor of the Spinal Unit of COT at Hospital Parc Taulí (2017-present).
- Dr. Neus Anglada: spinal surgeon with experience in the private and public sector of more than 5 years. Specialised in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Hospital Universitari Mutua de Terrassa (2011-2016). Adjunct Physician at the COT Spinal Unit of the Hospital Parc Taulí (2016-present).
NEW SPINAL UNIT SERVICES
– Assessment and revision of healthy spine (adults).
– Evaluation of spinal pathology: sports pathology, young adult pathology, adult pathology, elderly pathology.
– Orientation to the diagnosis and treatment of spinal pathology: cervical/dorsal/lumbar pathology. Vertebral fractures, disc herniation, foraminal stenosis, canal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, spinal deformity, spinal arthrosis, degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, spinal infections, spinal tumours, myelopathy.
– Conservative treatment: analgesic management, indication of physiotherapy, indication of orthosis.
– Non-surgical invasive treatment of spinal pathology: rhizolysis, facet infiltration, peridural infiltration, vertebroplasty.
– Personalised surgical treatment of spinal pathology: percutaneous or open instrumented cervical/dorsal/lumbar spine fixation, percutaneous/MIS/open instrumented cervical/dorsal/lumbar spine arthrodesis, percutaneous/MIS/open cemented instrumented dorsal/lumbar spine arthrodesis, lumbar interbody arthrodesis via MIS/open, lumbar microdiscectomy, cervical/dorsal/lumbar laminectomy, laminoplasty, lumbar foraminotomy, cervical arthroplasty, anterior cervical arthrodesis, cervical/dorsal/lumbar revision surgery.
– Multidisciplinary treatment of spinal pathology: pain clinic, rehabilitation, rheumatology, neurology.
